All of Community’s programs include these noteworthy elements:
Full Day Programs
Our program offers children a full day preschool experience and programming in a play-based environment where they are cherished, cared for, and guided by a highly qualified, professional staff.
2’s and Young 3’s Programs – Blue and Green Rooms
Often the entry point into early childhood education, our classes especially designed to help children make a smooth transition to a new place where trust and confidence are built as the first layers of a positive learning experience. Rich in playful exploration, our children are cared for by three qualified teachers who will guard and guide them toward building a healthy sense of self as learners and group members. After lunch, children bring blankets and lovies for a restful two-hour afternoon naptime. The day continues with gross motor time and classroom play until all are picked up. This room has a maximum enrollment of 16. Healthy breakfasts, lunches and snacks included. Children must be 2 on or before September 1st to be eligible. Potty training is not a requirement.
Older 3’s -4’s Mixed Age Programs – Orange and Yellow Rooms
These play-based classrooms provide high quality early childhood education and care for children ages 3.5 to 5. The multi-age setting provides an opportunity for older children to develop leadership skills and refine their thinking as they interact with their younger classmates. The younger children have the opportunity to be in a setting where a wider range of abilities is modeled thus encouraging them to “stretch” their abilities. As these classrooms have a Preschool for All (PFA) component, this program specifically addresses the needs of children who may qualify for a number of risk factors affecting Kindergarten readiness, while also meeting the needs of the greater population. Children enjoy a daily afternoon rest time/nap-time, length of time varying based on each child’s sleep patterns. The day continues with gross motor time, classroom play, and intermittent special activities until children are picked up. Maximum enrollment is 20 and it is taught by 3 teachers, at least one of whom is State Board of Education certified and one of whom is bilingual. The hours are 7:30am-5:30pm, with 9:00am-11:45am as mandatory PFA time. Children must be 3 by September 1st to qualify and undergo a prescreening assessment process. Healthy breakfasts, lunches, and snacks are included.
