Why Choose Community?

Discover what makes “Community” such a unique and amazing school. Families choose “Community” for a variety of reasons.

1. Community offers a variety of child-centric, nurturing programs:

  • Full day care including Preschool for All (ages 3-5), a state funded program that brings together qualified staff, a proven curriculum and parent involvement to help prepare children for success in school, with a priority set for children academically at risk.
  • Partial day care, a 2-1/4 hour play-based, group experience designed to foster trust in new people and a new place, make transitions, build positive social behaviors, engage in authentic learning opportunities, problem solve, explore, discover and learn.
  • Before school care, for school-age children needing care before school; bus transportation provided by the school district from most schools.
  • Kindergarten enrichment, for those attending half-day kindergarten, a program designed to enrich the kindergarten experience through project work rich in problem-solving and creativity.
  • Summer camp, 6-9 week programs designed to enhance summer fun and learning.
  • Little Giants Child Care and Learning Center at Highland Park High School (ages 2-5), a program created to care for the children of Dist. 113 employees but open to the general public when space allows; play-based, integrated with the high school community, Reggio-inspired project approach.

2. We offer affordable programs with fees based on a sliding scale (through the Dept. of Human Services) and we offer scholarships (based on application).
